Information We Collect
Location Data
Routezy collects your GPS coordinates and location history to generate optimized itineraries, suggest nearby restaurants and ATMs, and power real-time trip progress tracking. Location data is only accessed when the app is in use or when background location is explicitly enabled.
Account Information
When you create a Routezy account, we collect your name, email address, and optional profile photo. If you sign in via Google or Apple, we receive only the data those services share with us under their respective privacy policies.
Usage & Itinerary Data
We collect the trips you plan, attractions you visit, and interactions with the app. This data powers personalization and improves our route optimization algorithms.
Device Information
We collect device type, operating system version, app version, and anonymous crash logs to maintain performance and fix bugs. We do not access contacts, camera, or microphone without your explicit permission.
How We Use Your Data
Itinerary Generation
Your location, time budget, and preferences are processed in real time to build optimized travel plans using our TSP-based routing engine. This data is used exclusively to deliver your requested itinerary.
Personalization
Past trip data helps us refine recommendations, prioritize attraction types you prefer, and improve the accuracy of visit-duration estimates over time. You can reset your personalization profile at any time from Settings.
Community Features
Traveler tips you submit are published under your display name. Private notes are never shared. Shared itinerary links contain only the trip plan data — not your account details or location history.
Product Improvement
Aggregated, anonymized usage patterns help us improve route optimization, identify popular attractions in new cities, and develop features. No individual user data is used in public-facing analytics.
Data Sharing & Third Parties
Google Maps Platform
We use Google Maps APIs (Places, Directions, Distance Matrix) to power map rendering, attraction search, and route calculation. Your location queries are sent to Google under their API terms. We do not share your personal identity with Google Maps.
Sponsored Placements
Restaurant partners and promoted attractions receive only aggregated impression counts — never your personal data, name, or travel history. Sponsored content is always clearly labeled within the app.
Affiliate Booking Partners
When you tap a hotel or activity booking link, you are redirected to partners like Booking.com or GetYourGuide. These partners have their own privacy policies. Routezy receives anonymized booking confirmation for commission purposes only.
Legal Requirements
We will disclose data if required by law, court order, or to protect the safety and rights of Routezy users. We will notify affected users of any such request to the extent permitted by law.
Data Storage & Security
Infrastructure
Routezy data is stored on MongoDB Atlas clusters in secure, SOC 2-certified data centers. Firebase handles authentication tokens and real-time sync. All data is encrypted at rest using AES-256 and in transit via TLS 1.3.
Retention Policy
Active account data is retained as long as your account exists. Community tips you submit remain unless you manually delete them.
Security Practices
We conduct regular security audits, employ rate limiting on all API endpoints, and follow OWASP guidelines. Passwords are hashed with bcrypt. We maintain an internal incident response plan and will notify affected users within 72 hours of any confirmed data breach.
Your Rights & Controls
Correction & Deletion
You may update your account information at any time. To permanently delete your account and all associated data, go to Settings → Account → Delete Account. Deletion is irreversible and processed within 30 days.
Location Permissions
You can revoke location access at any time via your device's app permissions. Note that core features including itinerary generation and live trip tracking require location access to function.
Marketing Communications
You can unsubscribe from promotional emails via the link in any email footer or from Settings → Notifications. Transactional emails (booking confirmations, security alerts) cannot be disabled.
Children's Privacy
Age Requirement
Routezy is intended for users aged 13 and older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we become aware that a child under 13 has provided us personal data, we will delete that information promptly. Parents or guardians may contact us at routezy.support@gmail.com.
Policy Updates
How We Notify You
We will notify you of material changes to this policy via in-app notification and email at least 14 days before changes take effect. Continued use of Routezy after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the updated policy. The version history below tracks all changes.
